2 Hit-Run Drivers Leave Bicyclist For Dead On Long Island Roadway

Police are investigating a hit-run crash involving two different cars that left a bicyclist dead on a busy Long Island roadway.

A 65-year-old man died after being struck by two vehicles that fled the scene near East Suffolk and Lowell avenues in Central Islip early Monday, Sept. 25.

The incident happened at around 6:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 in Central Islip, near East Suffolk and Lowell avenues, just steps from the Central Islip Long Island Rail Road station.

Felix Cesi Oliva Cruz, age 65, of Bay Shore, was riding a bicycle northbound across East Suffolk Avenue when he was struck by two eastbound vehicles, according to Suffolk County Police.

He was taken by ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicles, described as a dark-colored small SUV and a white sedan, continued driving eastbound on East Suffolk Avenue, police said.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no additional reports of injuries.
